Amy & Pete, Super Stylish Summer wedding.

Getting ready in the beautiful Yardley Hastings

I first met Amy & Pete a couple of months before their big day at Amy's family home in Yardley Hastings and instantly hit it off. They were right up my street, relaxed, funny, excited about everything (especially Amy) and just had a 'cool' vibe about them. They showed me around the stunning postcard picture perfect village and where the wedding was going to be while I took a few shots of them together, the place oozed with fresh inspiration for photography. I met her family too who are so so lovely - I was excited - this was going to be a top wedding!

So the big day arrived, and the sun was out in full effect - perfect for a summer wedding in a marquee set in a beautiful village. Everyone loves a summer wedding and I'm no exception. The day began with me capturing Amy and her bridesmaids getting ready at her parents home. Photographing Amy as she prepared for the day with her parents was a moving way to begin the story, quite the contrast to the banter and jokes going around back at the couples home where Pete was getting ready with his groomsmen before the obligatory pre wedding trip to the pub by the church.

Wedding service at St Andrews church, Yardley Hastings

The ceremony was held at St Andrews church which was just a short walk from Amy's parents home. This gave me a great chance to capture them walking through the beautiful village up to the church. Inside the light was incredible and gave me the perfect backdrop to frame Pete nervously waiting Amy's arrival. She looked stunning, and after a dramatic entrance with her father, the service was in full flow and it was all smiles and laughs from that point until I left! This was all helped along by the priest who was so welcoming - she could not have done more to help.

Marquee wedding reception on the village hall grounds

The wedding reception was in a huge, beautifully decorated marquee at the village hall. Everyone was in a celebratory mood with the drinks flowing generously from the mega cool cocktail bar, and were having fun. I wandered around following the laughs and looking out for all the little stories as they unfolded. I always fall in love with brilliant Summer weddings. It was lovely to see the sun out on the day, which meant the guests could enjoy the grounds. After an incredible BBQ the guest all sat down again for everyone's favourite part of the day - the speeches.

It can be a difficult job for a wedding photographer to photograph speeches, because it's all about the words, so you have to look for the emotions being reflected in the way people react to the words to tell the story. Afterwards we took a short stroll together to get a few shots of them enjoying some quiet time together - the calm before the storm!

At the end of the day, Amy and Pete rocked the dance floor accompanied by their guests, courtesy of the DJ. It was a long time in the planning but they pulled off an outstanding wedding and I was thrilled they asked me to be a part of it!
